Slow Response Voltage Control

Managing small adjustments to Reactive Power during normal operation as Demand and Supply varies, in timescales within seconds or minutes.  This can be enacted by a range of means, including:

  1. Voltage regulators that control voltages farther from the substation and installed at substations and along distribution system feeders;
  2. Transformer load tap changes; and,
  3. Passive Reactive Power compensation from capacitors and reactors within substations.

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.

All feedback will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in subsequent updates.
