Inverter-based Resources (IBR)

A diverse range of Energy Resources that, unlike many conventional resources, do not have moving components that rotate synchronised with the Frequency of the Power System.  In contrast, resources such as Wind Turbines, Solar Photovoltaics (Solar PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are interfaced with the Power System via Power Electronic converters known as Inverters, which electronically replicate the standard operating Frequency of the Grid.

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.

All feedback will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in subsequent updates.
