Electric Products

The physics-based services that may be provided by Energy Resources to the Power System, and which can be summarised as the ‘3Rs’:

  1. Real Power: measured in MW, is the instantaneous rate at which electrical Energy is generated, transmitted or consumed;
  2. Reactive Power: measured in MVAR, sustains the electrical field in AC systems while maintaining Voltage within the limits specified for safe operation (source or sink); and,
  3. Reserves: measured in MW, represent contracted commitments to deliver or reduce Real Power (MW) or Energy (MWh) at a point of time in the future.

All beneficial products and services provided by Energy Resources to any Tier/Layer of the Power System are derivatives of the 3Rs.

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.

All feedback will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in subsequent updates.
