Active CER/DER

Consumer Energy Resources (CER/DER) capable of automatically altering their operating behaviour in response the needs of the wider Power System. This may be in response to changes in the price of Energy, the operating conditions of the local Distribution Network and/or upon receipt of instructions, control inputs or data feeds from authorised external entities.

Active  CER/DER are significantly more valuable to the Power System than Passive CER/DER as they can provide specific Electric Products in a manner that is highly correlated with the time, location and physics-based needs of the Power System.

Refer also to Orchestration, Operational Coordination and Electric Product Value.

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.

All feedback will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in subsequent updates.
