Variable Renewable Energy (VRE)

A generic term for Generation Plant that are powered by renewable resources which are intermittent and variable, such as wind and solar generation.

While it is technically correct to also refer to Distributed Photovoltaics (DPV) as VRE, the term is mostly used to describe large, utility-scale applications of solar and wind generation.

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.
