Consumer Energy Resources (CER/DER)

A diverse range of small to medium scale energy resources that are located Behind the Meter (BTM) at residential, commercial and industrial premises and are owned and operated by the Customer.

CER/DER are a multi-application resource that include the following types of technologies:

a) Distributed Generation (DG): including Distributed Photovoltaics (DPV) and Embedded Generators ;

b) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS): including small and medium-scale batteries;

c) Electric Vehicles (EV)

d) Smart Inverters; and,

e) Flexible Resources (Distributed).

Active CER/DER can provide valuable Electric Products to the shared system, in exchange for some form of value or additional benefit, where they are highly correlated with the specific needs of the Power System through Orchestration.

The term Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is commonly used of these technologies where they connected directly to the Distribution Network in Front of the Meter (FTM)

Given the fast-evolving nature of power system transformation, the Future Grid Accelerator (FGA) has the status of a perpetual BETA version. Your suggestions for how each concept and definition may be enhanced are very welcome.

All feedback will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in subsequent updates.
